Backstage – Terms and Conditions

1. About Backstage
Backstage (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a digital platform available via website and mobile application that enables makeup artists (“Artists”) to create professional profiles and allows clients (“Users”) to browse, book, and pay for makeup services.
Backstage acts as a platform provider only and is not a party to any agreement entered into between Artists and Users.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Backstage, you confirm that you:
- Are at least 18 years old
- Have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions
- Agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations
If you do not agree, you must not use the platform.
3. User Accounts
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
- Ensuring all information you provide is accurate, complete, and up to date
- All activity carried out under your account
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms or applicable law.
4. Artist Responsibilities
Artists are solely responsible for:
- The accuracy of their profiles, qualifications, availability, and pricing
- Compliance with applicable health, safety, tax, insurance, and licensing requirements
- Delivery of services booked through the platform
Backstage does not verify qualifications unless explicitly stated.
5. Bookings and Payments
- Payments are processed securely through third-party payment providers
- Backstage does not store full card details
- Artists receive payments subject to platform fees and applicable taxes
All financial transactions are recorded for accounting, tax, and legal compliance purposes.
6. Data Protection & GDPR Compliance
6.1 Data We Collect
We may collect and process the following personal data:
- Full name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Physical address
- Bank details (for payouts)
- Transaction history
- Booking details
- Account credentials
- IP address and usage data
6.2 Lawful Basis for Processing
We process personal data under the following GDPR lawful bases:
- Contractual necessity – to provide booking and payment services
- Legal obligation – accounting, tax, and fraud prevention
- Legitimate interest – platform security and service improvement
- Consent – where explicitly required
6.3 Financial Data & Sage Compliance
- Financial records are processed in accordance with Sage accounting requirements
- Transaction data is retained for statutory accounting periods
- Access to financial data is strictly limited to authorised personnel
- All financial data is encrypted and processed using secure systems
6.4 Data Storage & Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures, including:
- Encryption of sensitive data
- Secure servers and access controls
- Regular security monitoring
- Limited staff access based on role
Despite these measures, no system is entirely secure and use is at your own risk.

- Active accounts: for the duration of use
- Financial records: as required by law (typically 6–7 years)
- Inactive accounts: deleted or anonymised after a reasonable period

- Backstage is not liable for disputes between Artists and Users
- We are not responsible for service quality, cancellations, or outcomes
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses
Our total liability shall not exceed fees paid to us in the previous 12 months.
9. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Backstage harmless from any claims, losses, or damages arising from:
- Breach of these Terms
- Misuse of the platform
- Violation of law or third-party rights
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access:
- For breach of these Terms
- For illegal or fraudulent activity
- To comply with legal obligations
Termination does not affect accrued rights or obligations.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time.
Changes will be effective upon posting. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales.
Courts of that jurisdiction shall have exclusive authority.
