How do I book a makeup artist through Backstage?
Booking glam through Backstage is simple and stress-free. 💅 Just open the app or head to our website, search your desired area, service (e.g. soft glam, bridal, etc.) and your date, and we’ll recommend top-rated, pre-approved MUAs available for your big day. Once you choose your artist, an appointment request is sent straight to them. When they accept, your deposit is taken and your booking is locked in.

Why is there a deposit to secure my booking?
Great question! 💬 We work exclusively with professional makeup artists—meaning their time, skills, and kit are industry-level. Your deposit secures your appointment and shows respect for their work. It also protects your spot, ensuring your artist is fully committed to you on the day. No flakes. No overbooking. Just pure, pro glam.
Why is there a £1 booking fee?
That small £1 booking fee goes a long way. It helps us continue to audition, vet, and recommend only the best MUAs in the business, so you know you’re choosing from a verified, professional pool—not random internet roulette. You're booking excellence, not guesswork.

We love hearing from talented artists—but only the best make it in 💼 To keep quality high, all MUAs are required to audition before being listed on our platform. How is the MUA subscription paid?
Once you're approved, we’ll set up your monthly subscription via Direct Debit, so payments are automatic and seamless. You stay focused on your craft—we’ll handle the admin. ✅
Can I cancel or reschedule a booking?
Yes, both clients and MUAs can cancel or reschedule within the app. Just tap into the booking and choose your new time. We ask that any cancellations happen at least 24 hours in advance to keep everything respectful and professional.
How do MUA payments work?
After your appointment is completed, the remaining balance (minus the deposit) is paid directly to the artist via their preferred payment method. MUAs can track all their earnings in the app and get paid within 2–5 business days. No fees, no fuss—just your full rate, straight to you.
What if I have an issue with my booking?
Our support team is here for you 💬 If something isn’t right, head to the “Help” section in the app or on our site, and submit a support ticket. We take client and artist concerns seriously and aim to resolve them quickly and fairly.
